Rika came from a family with six children, her father died in 1916. She worked as a maid in Zutphen, Ommen and Goor.
She lived with her husband and son at 34 Kalanderstraat in Enschede. They had gone into hiding with the Groot Bramel family on the Rietmolenstraat in Enschede.
During a search of the house by the S.D. Two Jewish women were found there on September 25, 1944, including Rika. They were transferred to Twente airport where they, together with four other Jewish people in hiding, were executed and buried on 27 September.
At this arrest , her husband Simon and her son Israel were shot while trying to escape.
It was not until three years later, in October 1947, that her remains – along with those of eleven other prisoners – were taken on the instructions of the imprisoned S.D. Chief Schöber was found near the bunkers on the Weerselose part of the airport.
Holocaust victim, as well as her husband, her son Israel, her mother Lisette, her brothers Dagoberd and Sigmond and her sister Roza. Her sister Thilda and brother Abraham had already died. Her husband’s family killed his mother, two brothera and one sister.
