Cyril grew up in a large family in Byker, a suburb of Newcastle upon Tyne. His father was a shippainter.

He died in the Canadian Military Hospital in Ootmarsum.

Temporary grave at the Kuiperberg Ootmarsum until March 1947.

 Buried: Jonkerbos War Cemetery in Nijmegen, Section 6, Row D No. 4.

 Awarded with the War Medal and the 1939-1945 Star.
