After his parents got divorced in 1929, he lived with his mother at his grandparents Charles and Hannah MacLellan. His mother used to work as an accountant. Most likely she got remarried and got divorced from a guy named Cormack, because in 1940 she also moved back in with her parents. Melvin was a student engineer.
He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in December 1941 where he completed his basic taining in Toronto. He left for England in January 1943. From May 1943 he was part of the 51e squadron at Snaith.
His mother and grandmother MacLellan visited his grave in 1945.
Buried: R.K. Begraafplaats in Rossum.
Awarded with the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the War Medal, the 1939-1945 Star and the Europe Star.
Remembered at the Bomber Command Memorial Wall in Nanton, Alberta.
